HYGIENIST
THERAPY

Dental hygiene is a very important part of keeping a healthy smile.

At Marsh Dental Care we are able to offer a choice of Dental Hygienist who will work in close partnership with your Dentist to provide you with the very best in oral health care.

Our Hygienists are specially trained in the prevention of gum disease. They play a vital role in the dental healthcare of our patients, and help prevent gum and dental disease by giving individually tailored oral hygiene instruction to patients.

Prevention is fundamental to protect against gum disease and subsequent tooth loss. Research has shown gum disease to be the most common cause of tooth loss in adults. Gum disease can progress painlessly allowing it to go undetected, making treatment more difficult.

Flossing

Interdental Brushing

Brushing

Use the floss with a back and forth motion and with a vertical action until all the plaque is removed. An Interdental Brush is a small brush that can be held between your thumb and your fingers.
Use small circular movements with the brush held at 45 degrees to the tooth. Move systematically around the mouth.

At Marsh Dental Care we know early detection of gum disease is vital and hence screening for gum disease is an integral part of every regular six monthly examination.

After an assessment by your Dentist, the Dental Hygienist will examine and chart your gums, focusing on bleeding, swelling, and the presence of plaque and calculus. She will remove plaque, calculus, bacterial toxins and staining around the teeth and below the gum line using the latest ultrasonic scalers and instruments. Most importantly, the hygienist will give you expert effective advice on how to keep your mouth healthy.

Achieving and maintaining healthy gums and teeth are the hygienist’s main focus.

By seeing the Hygienist you are consulting an expert solely for prevention. By taking advantage of her special skills and training she can help you find the right regime to help you look after your smile effectively:- a smile which will last for life.

We strongly recommend that you visit the dental hygienist as an essential part of a preventive program that will help preserve your teeth and smile.
